BH6 Series AU-Ish Thing

[ Liv Amara is lying. He can feel it in his gut, darnit, and he isn't going to let something like a false positive sway him from that. Because like heck Mr. Sparkles is behind the city suddenly filling up with monsters. That guy couldn't bio-tech his way out of a paper bag.

So when Baymax picks up a massive power surge from Sycorax while they're out on patrol, Hiro already knows what he has to do. Sneak in. Alone. Could he get help from the others? Probably, but they're (rightfully) a little bit skeptical of both Hiro's assumptions and his tendency to suggest sneaking in undercover, especially when his rivalry with Karmi is involved. Which - okay, fine, yes, it would be great to show up Liv's mentor as being a massive fraud, but it's not why he's here today.

He doesn't quite convince her to help him sneak in. That would have been smarter, probably, but it's much faster to have Baymax distract her while Hiro swipes her keycard. That gets him past the initial security and into the parts of the facility he's bypassed before. A few wires pulled here, a console override there, and he's descending deep into the facility. Past sublevel 9, down ... well, he's not sure which level he's on? The elevator indicates sublevel 10, but it's such a long drop past 9 that he's wondering exactly how big this level is. And what the hell even needs to be down this far into the ground.

When the elevator finally comes to a halt, Hiro carefully creeps out into the underground vault. It's almost completely dark down here, save for the occasional flicker from a distant panel. The ceiling is somewhere high overhead - he can't see it, though whether that's from distance or darkness, he can't tell. ]

Baymax? I made it in.

[ Static answers him. The portable scanner he brought still works, but he's so far underground that he can't get a strong enough signal to contact Baymax. Or anyone else. If there's a monster down here ... He swallows nervously, trying not to think about it. He can hide if he has to, right? There's a forest of cylinders down here. Some filled with liquid, some filled with god knows what else, but more than a few of them are empty. He could hide in one of those, right? Totally safe. Yep. Definitely a great idea coming down here ... ]

Keep it together, Hiro. You've got this. Amara's up to something, and I'm gonna find out what it is.

[ His scanner still detects an energy surge coming from the opposite side of the vault. Something hot and volatile? It isn't clear on what the energy is, just that it's massive. And that it matches what he scanned the other day. Whatever it is, he's going to come face to face with it real soon. ]

Then - then come on. Hurry up before someone finds me down here.

[tadeadshi]

Yep. We're moving, just gotta -- [Hold on, he has to grab his bag and all his notes and storage drives. Just. shove it all in the bag. Then he's burning whatever papers are left.]

Now we can go.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro watches him, eyes flickering back and forth as he takes it in. ]

What is all that?

[tadeadshi]

Research, evidence. I can't let them keep it.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro looks at Tadashi's hands again for a very long moment. ]

Right. Yeah. Let's - let's get that back to Baymax, okay?

[tadeadshi]

[Nods. Then starts stepping out of the area.] Yeah. let's go.

[He leads a tiresome, circuitous route out, dodging cameras and security. It's when it's time to go up that Tadashi hesitates.] This is really it.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro follows, careful to keep an eye out too - after all he got down here. ]

... Yeah. It really is. Are you ready?

[tadeadshi]

I don't have much choice, do I?

[He smiles a little, but it's clear he's nervous. He peeks around a corner, then waves for Hiro to follow and leads them down a little further to a service corridor.]

[microbrobotics]

Course you don't.

[ He's dragging his brother out, goddammit. Or following behind him, whatever. He thinks he can get reception to Baymax again? Which is a good sign. ]

[tadeadshi]

[It's more crowded the further they go; this was going to be the problem no matter what they did. He'd never been given any schematics or anything of the building so he doesn't know any secret way out. He only stops and waits when people are passing by, turning his back to them and looking like he's explaining something to this guest, then turning to walk a little faster once they're gone.

There's a service exit, staff only that he pauses at. He thinks this is it.]

I... guess this is it. [GULP.]

[microbrobotics]

[ At least it seems to be working. They're making progress. And that staff exit seems right.

Hiro jaunts ahead a few steps, looking back at his brother. ]

Yeah. It's gonna be okay. Aunt Cass is gonna be so glad to see you.

[tadeadshi]

[Tadashi hesitates at that. He hadn't even thought of seeing their aunt, or their friends, and now he feels overwhelmed by the thought. Hiro cried, who knows how everyone else will react. Another hard swallow and he steps up to follow.]

Y-yeah. She will.

[microbrobotics]

[ They're gonna cry too, sorry Tadashi. But you're just gonna have to deal.

He holds out a hand back to his Tadashi. ]

Come on. Let's see her together.

[tadeadshi]

[He sees the hand. Takes a breath and nods, taking it.]

Let's see her together. [He repeats back, like it'll give him the strength to step out into the open world for the first time since he 'died'.]

[microbrobotics]

[ He hopes so anyway. Because he's pushing this door open and dragging Tadashi through whether he wants to come or not. ]

Baymax? Meet us over on the ... uh, east side of the building? I think it's east.

[tadeadshi]

[The minute the sun hits with the door open, Tadashi's trying to shield his eyes. It's so bright, it's the first sunlight in so long... But Hiro's got his hand leading him so it can't be that bad. And He thinks he heard Hiro say "Baymax" but he doesn't want to assume...]

Yeah, I'm not sure what side of the building this is...

[microbrobotics]

That's all right. I've got a tracker, so Baymax'll find us.

[ And they seem to have made as clean of a getaway as they're going to get, so ... Hiro carefully closes the door behind him.

Before too long, a red armored figure lands in front of them with an impressive blast of air. ]

[tadeadshi]

[Yep, he's still shielding his face from the sun when the blast of air hits. And then he's blinking.]

Wait-- That's Baymax? My Baymax?

[microbrobotics]

[ Oh yeah, Tadashi hasn't seen him yet. Hiro can't help but grin a little. ]

Your Baymax. Or - well, technically I rebuilt him, but he's still got your chip. Still the same fuffy healthcare companion.

[ Baymax raises a hand in greeting. And does a quick scan. ]

[tadeadshi]

What-- [Okay now he has a lot of questions.

But for now, Baymax is scanning him and giving a readout straight to Hiro's phone. And Tadashi's staring because this is....Baymax in some kind of armor? That Hiro built? There's so much.]

So. So that's new.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro glances at the readout, though not in any detail. That's stuff for later. ]

A lot happened this year. It's kind of insane, honestly? I'll tell you on the way home.

[tadeadshi]

Y-yeah... Sure.

[He isn't entirely sure how to get on, but he follows Hiro's lead to ride with Baymax. There's so much going through his head.]

[microbrobotics]

[ It's okay, Hiro offers Tadashi some spare magnetic clamps. See, you hook on here. ]

I've just - I've wanted to tell you about all of this. So badly.

[tadeadshi]

[Oh-- that makes more sense. He follows Hiro's instructions and climbs up onto Baymax's back.]

About all of what? There's a lot already...

Well, yeah. How d'you think I snuck into a secret lab in the first place?

[ Baymax takes off, setting as easy of a pace as he can to get them into the sky. It's still rocket propulsion on a robot, though, so hold on. ]
