BH6 Series AU-Ish Thing

[ Liv Amara is lying. He can feel it in his gut, darnit, and he isn't going to let something like a false positive sway him from that. Because like heck Mr. Sparkles is behind the city suddenly filling up with monsters. That guy couldn't bio-tech his way out of a paper bag.

So when Baymax picks up a massive power surge from Sycorax while they're out on patrol, Hiro already knows what he has to do. Sneak in. Alone. Could he get help from the others? Probably, but they're (rightfully) a little bit skeptical of both Hiro's assumptions and his tendency to suggest sneaking in undercover, especially when his rivalry with Karmi is involved. Which - okay, fine, yes, it would be great to show up Liv's mentor as being a massive fraud, but it's not why he's here today.

He doesn't quite convince her to help him sneak in. That would have been smarter, probably, but it's much faster to have Baymax distract her while Hiro swipes her keycard. That gets him past the initial security and into the parts of the facility he's bypassed before. A few wires pulled here, a console override there, and he's descending deep into the facility. Past sublevel 9, down ... well, he's not sure which level he's on? The elevator indicates sublevel 10, but it's such a long drop past 9 that he's wondering exactly how big this level is. And what the hell even needs to be down this far into the ground.

When the elevator finally comes to a halt, Hiro carefully creeps out into the underground vault. It's almost completely dark down here, save for the occasional flicker from a distant panel. The ceiling is somewhere high overhead - he can't see it, though whether that's from distance or darkness, he can't tell. ]

Baymax? I made it in.

[ Static answers him. The portable scanner he brought still works, but he's so far underground that he can't get a strong enough signal to contact Baymax. Or anyone else. If there's a monster down here ... He swallows nervously, trying not to think about it. He can hide if he has to, right? There's a forest of cylinders down here. Some filled with liquid, some filled with god knows what else, but more than a few of them are empty. He could hide in one of those, right? Totally safe. Yep. Definitely a great idea coming down here ... ]

Keep it together, Hiro. You've got this. Amara's up to something, and I'm gonna find out what it is.

[ His scanner still detects an energy surge coming from the opposite side of the vault. Something hot and volatile? It isn't clear on what the energy is, just that it's massive. And that it matches what he scanned the other day. Whatever it is, he's going to come face to face with it real soon. ]

[Oh-- that makes more sense. He follows Hiro's instructions and climbs up onto Baymax's back.]

About all of what? There's a lot already...

Well, yeah. How d'you think I snuck into a secret lab in the first place?

[ Baymax takes off, setting as easy of a pace as he can to get them into the sky. It's still rocket propulsion on a robot, though, so hold on. ]

[tadeadshi]

[Yeah, he doesn't get to respond at all. Baymax is up and going before he an get a word out and Tadashi's struggling to keep hold. Instead, he presses himself against Baymax's back to try and reduce some of the wind and watches over the robot's shoulder to where they're going.

When they land outside the cafe, Tadashi's eyes are Big. He hasn't seen it in so long...]

[ He kind of needs that time to figure out what he wants to explain anyway. Not that he can get away with not confessing his alter ego at this point, probably? Baymax is very obvious. But.

They land outside the cafe soon enough, Hiro dismounting and looking back at his brother. ]

Hey. It's okay. It's - it's finally gonna be okay.

[tadeadshi]

No, I--

[Deep breath.]

I know. It's just... been a while.

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro reaches up to take Tadashi's hand. ]

Bet she'll make us pancakes.

[tadeadshi]

[He almost jerks away from the touch but lets Hiro take it. It's just Hiro, it's fine.]

Yeah? Is that what you're banking all this on, free pancakes?

[microbrobotics]

Oh yeah. Definitely rescued you just to get pancakes out of it.

[tadeadshi]

[If nothing else, he's glad his brother hasn't changed too much.

A slow, steadying breath and. Eyes to the door.]

You'd better do most of the talking then. You know she'll ask a million questions.

[microbrobotics]

Don't worry. I, uh. I've gotten pretty good at lying to her.

[tadeadshi]

You know that does not instill the best faith in me, right.

[microbrobotics]

Just for superhero things! That doesn't count.

[tadeadshi]

[Yeah he can't really. Explain why lying to her at all and the fact Hiro feels he's gotten good at it feels wrong to him. But Tadashi looks at the door and takes a deep breath before stepping through.

Thankfully it's the slow period when most everyone's gone back to work or class, so there are only one or two people sitting around drinking their coffee. Cass is in the back handling some pastries, but when she come around and sees Tadashi and Hiro, she stops. Drops one plate and barely catches the other.

Hiro? Hiro, you're seeing this right?]

[microbrobotics]

[ Oh, Aunt Cass. He goes up to her, giving her a one-armed hug. ]

Yeah. It's him. It's really him.

[tadeadshi]

[Cass is staring between them both in disbelief, starting and stopping mid-question before setting the other plate down and barreling over to hug Tadashi so tight. Tadashi instinctively feels his body heat getting hotter before he has to tamp that down.

Deep breath.

Hug her back.

Then carefully pull away so she doesn't take it as insulting but so he can breathe.]

It's-- It's been a long? Kind of weird day, Aunt Cass. Can I... head upstairs for a while?

[She smiles, nods, of course Tadashi, go go she'll let you boys know when there's dinner ready, oh she's going to make a BIG dinner and go all out!]

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro gives his aunt another hug. ]

I'll keep an eye on him, Cass. Don't want him getting into trouble after all.

[ And with that, he moves to go upstairs with Tadashi as well. The room is ... well, it's messier than usual, mostly because Hiro is the one using most of the space, but Tadashi's corner with the bed has been left untouched. Hat resting on the bed. ]

[tadeadshi]

[When Hiro comes back upstairs, Tadashi's standing at the edge of his space, looking over all Hiro's stuff. He's proud of him, attending college, doing projects, all of it. Hiro moves on after him. If he had actually died, it's what Tadashi would've wanted.]

Been keeping yourself busy, huh?

[microbrobotics]

[ Tons of projects, homework, etc. ... Hiro's moved on with his life. Reluctantly, as evidenced by the untouched bed but ... Your brother's done good.

He pilfers some chips and wasabi peas on his way back up. ]

Your nerd school keeps me busy. Also, the - uh.

[ Okay Hiro, deep breaths. He alluded to it earlier but hadn't explained, so ... time to fess up. ]

Well, I'm. I'm a superhero now.

[tadeadshi]

[He's busy looking over everything, starting to size up what's left on his side of the room when Hiro says that--]

What?

[Wait no hold on, he eyes his brother carefully. He knew over the last hour that Hiro had changed some but...]

Really?

[microbrobotics]

[ Hiro rolls his eyes a little at that. ]

Yes, really. Didn't you see Baymax's armor?

[tadeadshi]

I didn't wanna make any assumptions. [He means that honestly but he's glad for the confirmation.

Tadashi sits on the end of his bed just watching Hiro.]

So... Everyone else too, huh?

[microbrobotics]

Oh yeah. We're a whole team now. Big Hero Six?

[tadeadshi]

[Oh his eyes light right up.]

That's you guys? [Hiro, remember eager happy Tadashi who got excited over new tech? That's Tadashi looking at you right now, only with a little heat in his hands.]

That's-- That's amazing!

[microbrobotics]

[ Okay, that's - good? That's really good. He wasn't sure how Tadashi was gonna react, but that glow is definitely good. He can't help but beam a little back. ]

Right? What d'you think of my new tech, huh? Super sweet, right?

[Tadashi takes a seat on the end of his bed, fidgeting a little nervously. But his tone is all warm and proud.]

It is. It's - really cool, gotta admit.
