[ all of them have been a little lost since shiro disappeared.
they struck a blow to the heart of the galra empire by defeating zarkon, and that is something to be celebrated. something the olkari, balmerians, all the people that they'd helped were celebrating. and the paladins knew they had done good but.
it was supposed to put an end to it, to be able to go home. and lance, god, he missed earth with its blue oceans and the rain, and his mom. but it seemed wrong to go home when shiro was missing.
missing, not dead. there was no body, and therefore lance wasn't thinking of him as dead until someone provided him evidence proving otherwise.
which lead to the other person who, for all intense and purposes, had just lost the only family he had left. keith may have been part galran but lance got the sense the blade of marmora wasn't exactly welcoming him with open arms.
so pidge was trying to find a way to hack into galra outposts for information on shiro. hunk was repairing the damage done to the castle with coran. allura was doing... whatever allura did, lance knew it was important but it was greek to him right now. and keith... no one had really checked up on him.
no that lance, you know, was checking up on him. but if his rival team mate like, died of a broken heart or something that'd be kind of disappointing. of course, it was too conspicuous if he'd just gone to find keith if he was training, which lead to him trying to catch him casually as he was leaving training.
only he wasn't. he'd been in here a while and lance was patient, but sometimes nearly as impatient as keith could be and finally he just went inside to see what the everloving quiznak keith was doing. ]
Did finding out you were Galra eliminate your need to ever sleep?
[ so whatever lance did - and they have an idea of what exactly lance did, but pidge isn't going to confront either of them about it - at least gets keith out of the training room and helping them again.
they don't talk about it, but hunk puts a hand on keith's shoulder and pidge elbows him, and they hope that's enough for now to express how happy they are to see him.
there finally comes a point where pidge needs keith's help, though. keith may not be patient but he's got steadier hands than lance and he won't try to make 'improvements' to pidge's calibrations.
so they hunt him down, allura telling them that the castle says keith's in the lion bay, and pidge pops down to it. ]
[The trial came and went. And Jim was found innocent, but at what cost, really. That his mentor that he had tried to help was willing to let him take that fall up to the end. Then the guy got away anyway when no one was looking. Tough three days all around. He's glad at least there was the support from his defense attorney and assistant, but he feels pretty bad lying to them this whole time, especially when it just blew up in his face.
He takes a deep breath and sits on the steps outside the courthouse, just. Watching. Watching people leave, watching the cars on the street. He should go home, but he doesn't really want to. Not yet.]
That's not the only thing bothering Lance about this place--for starters, the floor is exceptionally sticky--but a dare's a dare. He has a misguided reputation as a badass to hold up and if he turns around right now and leaves, all his friends will bare witness to him not being able to hack this grubby dive bar for more than three minutes.
No. Lance can't have that. He needs to make it at least ten minutes, just long enough for his friends to leave from in front of the bar.
Taking a deep breath, he creeps through the clouds of cigarette smoke and occasional drunken shout up to the bar, sneakered feet squeaking against the gross floor tiles. No one looks more out of place here than Lance and that much is obvious when he hails down the bartender and makes his order.]
A Coke, please.

the stars had whispered to her. "your new enemy seeks great power from a place you cannot reach," they had told her.
"what can I do?" she had pleaded.
"we will guide you," came the gentle answer.
the silhouette of someone she couldn't quite recall had shone brilliantly for a moment against the sea of stars, and then
she fell.
it hadn't been unpleasant. more like...sinking into deep water than falling. it felt like an instant and an eternity before she opened her eyes...to find herself in a strange city. most buildings are domed - she doesn't know of a city with this unique architecture.

[ She's been having these dreams lately. Dreams of Allura and the White Lion drifting through the stars, different realities scattered around them like fragments of a mirror. Romelle feels something tug at her-- an unspoken message.
Find me.
At first, she thought it was just grief. But she's started having the same dream every single night. It isn't the same grief-induced dreams she had about her family. There's something real in them, an energy. A message.
The Paladins have a tradition of coming back to Earth for holidays when they can. It's a way to make sure their bond stays strong and their little family stays whole. But this time, Romelle isn't acting the same. She's lost in thought more often than not and seems a little distant. A little off.
She has to tell someone. Coran is an obvious choice, but what if she's wrong? Should she really bring up something that's still so raw for him? And if she's wrong, she's gone and given him false hope.
Another dream, another restless night, and she's made up her mind. She needs to talk to Keith.
The problem is that it's 3am and she's not entirely sure where he could be. The kitchen? Training room? Actually sleeping? The more she wanders the halls trying to find him, the more uncertain she gets. Maybe he'll find her first. ]
